Swinkey Golf, “The Golfers Toolbox” was a new golf training aid for professional golfers, invented by Brian Benedictson in the Comox Valley. As part of a team, we developed international marketing strategies and recruited global sales teams.
Target market databases were created for the sales teams in Canada and the USA , and later expanded globally. As a virtual corporation, the global sales teams had access to the databases and all marketing materials.
As the media relations coordinator “The Golfers Toolbox” required mass publicity on the provincial, national and international level. Extensive research was required to learn the culture of the golf industry in order to get their attention. Using social media, key reporters were targeted, and we started building relationships.
A database of international press contacts was provided for the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida where the CEO and VP would be exhibiting. It was my job to contact as many as possible to get them to stop by “The Golfers Toolbox” trade show booth. It was a great success, with multiple reviews being published after the event.
“The Golfers Toolbox” started gaining international media attention on the radio, newspapers, television, and social media.
In addition to marketing and media, I worked directly with the Trade Commissioners to build relationships with new distributors and expand our international sales.
With absolutely no experience in the Golf Industry, working for Swinkey Golf Inc was a very rewarding experience and a true test of my marketing abilities.
Brian Benedictson, President-Inventor at Swinkey Golf Inc.
“When starting a business from the ground up you need good people who aren’t afraid to give a little extra. Shari has been an excellent resource to Swinkey Golf taking multi tasking to a new level. She started as media coordinator getting us on TV, in the paper, events, etc… Then helped organize and assist the sales force. She is now spearheading our global sales and working with the Trade Commissioners world wide. As a CEO with a full slate having Shari around has been a great asset.”
